Poo was awarded the Best Film award by Makkal TV in a grand ceremony on Bhogi Day, January 12th. The award function was held on the premises of Chettinad Vidyashram School, Raja Annamalaipuram. These awards, conceptualized with the aim of encouraging Tamil culture and trends, were given in 32 categories such as Best Daily, Best Writer, Best Citizen, Best Drama, Best Short Film, Best Sportsperson, etc.
Dr. Anbumani Ramdass, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, presented the award to director Sasi, writer Sa. Tamizhselvan and G. Dhananjayan of Moser Baer.
