Gilli off to Bollywood?
The Vijay-Trisha starrer Gilli was a mammoth hit in Tamil, as was the original Telugu version. Now it is said that the movie is to be remade in Hindi. Given that the script is entirely tailor-made for a South Indian audience, it’s quite surprising that it has caught the attention of Bollywood filmmakers. Some say the main attraction was the song 'Appadi Podu' which was used in a mobile phone ad that starred Abhishek Bachchan. The advertisement had Abhishek performing some typically kuthu dance steps that had everyone amused.

The song further gained popularity through reality dance shows up North, with couples dancing to the pacey music. It’s no wonder that soon, everybody wanted to watch the movie and now, it’s quite possible that they will get to see it in their familiar Hindi. Though nothing is confirmed yet, the Hindi Gilli is likely to star Abhisheik Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. This rumour comes soon after the announcement of Amitabh starring in Gautam Menon’s Hindi remake of Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu.
