Aamir’s Christmas release Gajini
Actor Suriya always say that he has something good to look up to, from actor Aamir Khan.

Remember that Aamir’s Christmas release Gajini is a remake of Surya’s blockbuster movie in Tamil. Recently Aamir visited Surya’s residence and gifted him a laptop for dubbing in the Tamil version of his much acclaimed Taare Zameen Par titled Vaal Natshathiram in Tamil.

It seems that Surya was so impressed by the movie, that he did not take money to dub for Aamir’s role in that movie.

But Aamir had surprised the actor by visiting him and spent close to four hours at his home in T.Nagar. But that’s not all, Aamir told Karthi that he was surprised to see that the actual Paruthiveeran looked like this, and the artist in Sivakumar also found a new fan in Aamir.

Movies for next weekend
Kavithalaya’s “Thiruvannamalai” and Lakshmi movie makers “Silambattam” is likely to join the release race next week. Both movies were slated for earlier release during the beginning of December but then postponed leaving behind perplexed fans and audiences. Perhaps this is a type of marketing tactic to build more hype and expectations from the mass. Latest update is that both the above mentioned movies will be out on 19th December 08.Surprisingly Abhiyum Naanum expected to hit the screen long back, came out of nowhere with a newspaper advert confirming to be released on 19th of December.

shooting inside the bullet train?
Producer-director Dayal Padmanabhan's Circus is making news, both good and bad, ever since the film began. The recent controversy and accusations of plagiarism which led the KFCC to intervene and penalize him has not dampened Dayal's spirit. The director, who had earlier rented an entire train from the Sothern Railway for the shooting of his film, recently shot two songs in a bullet train in Austria.

Dayal had to pay a hefty fee and spent Rs. 55 lakhs for the 15 day shoot in Austria. Getting permission to shoot in the bullet train was difficult. First he approached the authorities through the Indian Embassy in Austria but when that did not work out, he directly approached the Austrian Embassy in India. The authorities agreed and quoted a steep fee. Dayal, who was ready pay any amount to get the permission, agreed. The crew stayed in Austria for 15 days to film two songs.

So, how was the experience shooting inside the bullet train? It was awesome, Dayal says. Since the train moves very fast, the shooting also had to be done quickly, but it was a truly pleasant experience, he explains.

When Lakshmi Rai celebrated her birthday this year in a five-star hotel, she found out that few cricketers playing in IPL, including her favourite Dhoni, were staying in it. ‘Maruthanayagam’ gets life now
Maruthanayagam was conceived by Kamal Haasan after his vivid research from the pages of ancient history. The film was launched by Queen Elizabeth before few years and Kamal Haasan was on seventh cloud with extreme happiness. But due to financial constraints, producers of the film backed off and the project got shelved. After many many years now, Kamal Haasan gets new hopes with India-UK Film Corporation getting collaborated. The agreement was signed between British Government and various Countries where talented filmmakers are unable to produce their works.

This treaty will not alone turn dream projects into reality but get them sold internationally by making western countries aware about those projects.
So, when ‘Marmayogi’ dropped off, it’s ‘Maruthanayagam’ brimming him up with more hopes
Release of A…Aa…E…Ee… postponed
AVM Production has been extensively promoting it’s forthcoming venture ‘A…AA…E…EE’ to greater levels with more promos. AVM Shanmugam produces this film while Sabapathy handles story, screenplay, dialogues and direction. Navdeep, Monika, Aravind and Annapoorani dons lead roles while Prabhu, Manorama and Haneefa are playing prominent characters.

Earlier, plans were to release the film on December 18, but with many films lined for release, producers have developed second thought now. The release date of film has been postponed to Jan 9, 2009 a week prior to Pongal releases. That would be the right time as this month’s releases may run out of theatres and producers can witness some profits prior to Pongal releases like ‘Villu’ and Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’.
Shriya Saran denies pay cut
Today, with talk of recession and pay cuts and power cuts, can the ultra-insulated film world be left behind? Now rumours of big stars taking salary cuts as producers struggle to stay afloat are surfacing. The big corporates that stepped into the South Indian film world and paid the stars any price they asked are now being cautious in projects they take on.

Shriya is one of the first female stars to cross the magic amount of one crore per film. Now, she is extremely hurt by gossip that she has slashed her fee drastically, gossip that is creating confusion on her career front.

A national newspaper quoted her as saying, “I have no clue how such rumours originate. It’s not that I demand a hefty sum for my work. In fact, I have done movies without any pay. I have not demanded big money for Deepa Mehta’s What’s Cooking, Stella? or the Hollywood film. It’s not because of recession that I am cutting down on my pay. The industry needs money to flourish and at such hard times, I don’t think I will choose money over good movies. I always give importance to the script. At the end of the day, it’s all about having a nice movie in your kitty.”
Her Hollywood film, The Other End of the Line, an English film produced by Ashok Amritraj is now running in US theatres; Shriya is eagerly waiting for it to release in India. Though she had no releases in Kollywood or Tollywood this year, she is involved in many other projects, one of which is Kandasamy (Tamil) starring Vikram, titled Mallanna in Telugu. She has also signed up for Vishal's next project Thoranai and another untitled flick with Dhanush

Sources close to the couple say that he takes a special interest in her career and has been a very supportive spouse. Now it’s time for Bhumika to do him a favour. The lovely starlet desperately wants to launch her hero as a leading actor in tinselville and has been recommending him to various directors. With no positive response from anyone, the actress has now decided to do it herself! Bhumika has launched her own production house and is busy discussing scripts for films with her husband in the lead role!
Aishwarya Rai’s love for Peter!
It's not what you think, guys! The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan has not dumped her husband for another man. The man we refer to is (late) Peter Sellers, the Hollywood actor who starred in all four Pink Panther movies; the love we refer to is her adulation for him!

Aishwarya says she grew up watching and thoroughly enjoying the Pink Panther movies and has always been a big fan of Peter Sellers, who played the lead role. In fact, she insists that her admiration for the actor and the joy that his movies gave her prompted her to star in the soon-to-release Pink Panther movie. Ash says she knew her role in the movie would not get her critical acclaim, because the plot revolves around Steve Martin, but she was honoured to be a part of a movie that has added smiles to her childhood. Hence she willingly jumped on board.
Rajini's request: No celebrations
Given his demi-god status in Tamil Nadu, Rajinikanth’s birthday is quite a colourful festival in the state amongst his huge fan following. But it turns out that this year, given the tense situation in Sri Lanka with the Tamils still dying and the terror attack on Mumbai, the Super Star is in no mood for celebration. December 12the, his birthday, should go by with no celebration, is what he has advised his fans who were all set to celebrate in style. There will be no garlanding of huge cutouts or special poojas in honour of Rajinikanth this year. As though his fans understand the need for respectful silence now, they are quite disappointed by his message.
Gilli off to Bollywood?
The Vijay-Trisha starrer Gilli was a mammoth hit in Tamil, as was the original Telugu version. Now it is said that the movie is to be remade in Hindi. Given that the script is entirely tailor-made for a South Indian audience, it’s quite surprising that it has caught the attention of Bollywood filmmakers. Some say the main attraction was the song 'Appadi Podu' which was used in a mobile phone ad that starred Abhishek Bachchan. The advertisement had Abhishek performing some typically kuthu dance steps that had everyone amused.

The song further gained popularity through reality dance shows up North, with couples dancing to the pacey music. It’s no wonder that soon, everybody wanted to watch the movie and now, it’s quite possible that they will get to see it in their familiar Hindi. Though nothing is confirmed yet, the Hindi Gilli is likely to star Abhisheik Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. This rumour comes soon after the announcement of Amitabh starring in Gautam Menon’s Hindi remake of Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu.

BPO from Hungary plays background music for Nanthalala?
We already knew that Illayaraja scores the music of Nanthalala, but the latest news is that BPO or Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra (Symphony Orchestra) from Hungary is probable to be a part of conceiving the background music of this movie. Philharmonic means Love of Symphony music. BPO is the oldest and one of the most prestigious Hungarian orchestras today as well as being considered one of the leading orchestral ensembles in Europe.
We will be certainly gratified if our Maestro Illayaraja joins BPO to emanate another master piece like Beethoven’s Symphony.
Shanthanu ready with his next mission
Shanthanu Bhaghyaraj son of versatile film maker and actor Bhaghyaraj made his debut through Sakkarakatti. Though the movie failed at box office Shanthanu carved a niche in viewer’s heart with his acting and dancing skills. His next movie which is also his father’s directorial venture “Pudhiya Varpugal” has completed shooting and is on post production. Surprisingly though the film has Dharan and Thaman scoring music for the songs, the background music has been taken from the Lekha Sonoton Music Library that is tailor-made.
Bhaghyaraj is known for his distinct trendsetting nature, he has done it again because it’s simply easy and cost saving.
Well done Director, may your son follow your lead!
K. Bhagyaraj’s rerecording with Sonoton

With Tamil Cinema witnessing changing phase in all aspects, Sonoton Music Library has been having its impact. Right now, K. Bhagyaraj has geared up with pioneering works on blending his innovative presentation with the pre-recorded live music of different genres. Yup! K. Bhagyaraj is known as the versatile personality in penning stupendous screenplay in such a way that’s entertaining and with great impact.

At present, he has completed shooting for his directorial ‘Pudhiya Varpugal’ featuring his Santhanu in lead role. Being completed with shooting works, both father and son are cool working on re-recording works. How can they be so cool during the crucial time of post production works? It’s so simple as they wouldn’t be having music directors straining themselves in studio tuning more and more melodies for background score. They have geared up with Sonoton Music Library.

Now, it’s Lekha Sonoton who has been working on for the entire film. As we happened to catch up with them while recording for scores, we could get some bites regarding this from Bhagyaraj.

Speaking on this, Bhagyaraj said that earlier he had some misconceptions that it was something that wouldn’t match exactly for the film. But now after glimpsing through hundreds and hundreds of tunes, he’s really awestruck with.

Though the film has duo musicians Dharan and Thaman scoring music for the songs, the entire background score has been adapted from the Library as the director felt it is cost effective and process is so easy.

The latest word about Marmayogi, which was kept in cold storage due to financial kamal haasanshortfalls, is that it will resume shooting on January 13th. Though there have been many rumours about the film being dropped, Kamal Haasan and producer Swaminathan (Pyramid Saimira) maintained that the film is only suspended for a brief period. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan announced an interim project Thalaivan Irukkindran and news surfaced that this would be his milch cow whose earnings would go into making Marmayogi, meaning that Marmayogi will be held in abeyance for long.

Sarathkumar 1977 shooting has been completed.

Dinesh Kumar, director of the 1977 sarath-namithastarrer Sarathkumar 1977, announced that his film is nothing short of an adventurous James Bond film. The sleek movie is expected to release on Pongal as its shooting has been completed.

Shot mostly in Malaysia, the film stars Sarath in dual roles – father and a son. Veteran actress Jayasudha plays mother to the younger Sarathkumar; Namitha and newcomer Farzana add quite a lot of glamour to the movie. Sarath plays a scientist, all the more reason to display flashy and futuristic gadgets. So, with a brainy and brawny hero, ultra-modern gadgets, and beautiful girls, the film definitely offers all that a James Bond film can deliver.

Above all, Sarath has pulled off many stunts on his own and the stunts involving cables have come out excellently. One particular scene where Namitha and Sarath jump off a flyover onto a speeding truck would thrill the audience very much. Though performed using safety harness and cables, the risk associated was high, given the height of the flyover and speed at which the truck moved.

Soon, we will sit back in theatres and enjoy this film in which Sarath takes on the baddies who tarnished his father’s image.

Naan Kadavul screens on Pongal.

Director Bala has finally completed the shooting of Naan Kadavul. After filming for almost 300 days, the crew did some “patchwork” at AVM Studios on December 4th. They shot some leftover scenes and re-shot some scenes to better them or to correct them. The crew was in a party mood after completing the last schedule. It is believed that the film will finally hit the screens on Pongal. The filmmakers also plan to release the audio in December.

Bala’s Naan Kadavul tries to delve into minds that are highly unfathomable – like the minds of aghori sadhus who, scientifically speaking, live in an altered state of mind all the time. Just like the scientific community, Bala has always been curious and intrigued by people who have an “altered state of mind”.

Arya, the protagonist of naan-kadavul, has worked as hard as Bala. Both these artists have been diligently working on this project for the past two years. In fact, Arya almost transformed himself into an aghori sadhu for this film – he grew his hair long and kept it unkempt, flowing beard, and it is reported that he even followed the austere lifestyle of a sadhu to make his character most realistic.

All this has gives filmgoers the impression that Bala might outdo his own Pithamagan this time, which has made them extremely eager to see the film.

Harris seems to have found a new partner after his fallout with Menon. The person is none other than cinematographer-director KV Anand, who is currently directing Suriya for 'Ayan'.

According to sources close to the music director, all the songs have been composed for 'Ayan'. They are nothing short of foot-tapping and scintillating numbers.

Produced by AVM, the production house preens that the songs are going to rock. 'Both Harris and Anand are happy with the tunes rendered. They believe that the album would satisfy music-lovers.'
